Old 70's Triscuit Commercial 'actor/comedian'?

Who is that guy?

Postby dingleberry1962 » Mon May 04, 2009 9:27 pm

Ok, I've searched the net, I've even sent an email to the 'Nabisco' site regarding the name of a comedian featured in one of their 'Triscuit' commercials. I got a reply that their info base was so extensive it would be impossible to track any one commercial down. This guy was unusual looking, large nose, dark curly hair and a sort of slap stick humor. I have given up trying to figure out this guys name. Anyone have any clue?

I think (don't quote me now), but I THINK that may have been Avery Schreiber. He's done bunches of commercials and a few movies, too.
I remember the ad you're talking about.

Thanks for the post. I don't think that's the name of the guy but if I saw a picture I'd know for sure. I'll check it out. Again, thanks for the post.

I believe the actor you're mentioning is Charlie Callas , in most pictures it has him with straight hair , but if it was from the 70's then it was probably the going thing for guys then and that was a "perm".

Avery S. i belive did either Doritos or Lays commercials.

Yes it was Charlie Callas. I can't remember everything but there was lots of "oooh oooh hot" and the campaign was "try em hot". This was shot in our kitchen in Toronto in the mid 70s. I was only about 9 and was bummed because they had to remove our GIGANTIC collection of Chiquita banana stickers from the edge of the countertop. But otherwise I thought it was really cool to have the production crew in our house.

To gordow and Minkstole, thanks for the replies and yes it was Charlie Callas. Just by chance I saw him in some old celebrity roasts on YouTube. Now I just want to dig up the original commercial..I remember now all the mannerisms he had that made me laugh when I was a kid watching it.
