These forums were inspired by this post on my blog, TBOTCOTW. There was a tall, skinny, charismatic actor who suddenly popped up in five or six different national ad campaigns. I wondered who that guy was, and two months later someone left a comment identifying him as Joel Moore (no relation, obviously). Months later, Slate.com had an entire article built around Joel's career, soon after that Joel had a pretty big, pretty funny part in a major movie, and nearly two years later I'm still getting comments like, "Who's that girl in the Motorola commercial?"
Clearly there is widespread interest in this topic, and a blog comments section is a poor place for this sort of user-to-user dialogue. Yet the AdTunes.com forums were doing a bang-up job identiftying the soundtracks to ads and teevee shows. Obviously a bulletin board/forum was the way to go.
So AdActors.com was born.
